Dalworthington Gardens has the longest city name in Texas and earned every letter. Born as a Roosevelt-era Depression homestead project in 1934, the only one of five Texas homestead communities still standing and independent today. “Dal” from Dallas, “Worth” from Fort Worth, “ington” from Arlington three cities surround it on every side, and DWG refused to be absorbed by any of them. Horse-friendly lots, custom estates, and a community identity forged in the New Deal that nobody has managed to take away.
